How Does Pressure Control Valve Work?

Every hydraulic system includes an extensive pressure control valve. However, the increasing hydraulic pressure causes damage to the system and this is where pressure control valves come into the scene.   • Pilot operated valves
  • Direct-acting valve

Direct Acting Valve

In the case of a direct-acting valve, a mechanical spring assists in holding the liquid flow. In this process, the spring force and hydraulic pressure are working as opposed to each other to limit the liquid flow. With the help of a knob, we can change the pressure in the string which results in limiting the liquid flow and in the valve opening. Once you cross the cracking pressure fluid starts to pass. Cracking pressure is nothing but the pressure at which the valve opens up.
At the stage where full relief valve pressure is present the valve is completely open and this way, the liquid flows in a maximum amount.

Pilot Operated Valve

The gauge valve manufacturer develops primary parts that are essential for pilot operated pressure control valves. This includes a spring housing that holds the control spring, one adjustable screw, one pilot wall chamber, the main diaphragm chamber, and the main valve chamber. The adjustable screw used in the operation of pilot operated valves is specifically applied for maintaining the pressure in the system full stop once you tighten and loosen the Bolt one can easily increase or decrease the output pressure accordingly.

In the very beginning, the pressure adjusting bolt is placed completely loose then the steam begins to occupy the main valve chamber. In this case, if you tighten the main control screw which is situated at the top it will put some pressure on the adjustment spring. This all will result in the pilot diaphragm defamation while the pilot valve lunges will push the SS valve which is responsible for opening up the pilot valve. Once the pilot valves are opened the pressurized steam situated in the main wall chamber will enter into the pilot wall chamber through the strainer screen. Now since the steam will be building in a controlled manner within the pilot chamber the major diaphragm will start to deform. This way the diaphragm will push the rod which will open the main valve and as the main valve opens up the steam flow is given a direction to the downstream or supply line. However, this line includes a feedback line that connects right below the pilot diaphragm.

You can easily adjust the pressure that is coming out from the downstream line. This can be easily achieved by controlling the adjustable Bolt situated at the top. The complete system works in a loop while automatically balancing itself. Pressure control valve principles are applied to various hydraulic systems.
